Abstracts for Short Talks and Posters

Main Content

The 36th Annual Summer Symposium in Molecular Biology, on the topic of “Metabolism and Metabolomics: Disease Models and Model Organisms.” will include a poster session and a small number of short talks (4-6). Below are instructions for formatting of your abstract. These guidelines reflect those used for the national American Society for Virology meeting. We gratefully acknowledge following ASV format below.

Abstract Submission Deadline

Deadline for receipt of electronic abstracts that request consideration for short talks is March 27, 2017. Abstracts received after this date will not be considered for short talks.

Deadline for receipt of electronic abstracts that request poster presentations is April 7, 2017. Abstracts received after this date will not be included in the Scientific Program & Abstracts.

Selection of Abstracts for Short talks: All abstracts requesting a short talk will be reviewed by Symposium Organizers, and those selected will be notified by April 7, 2017.

The maximum number of words for the abstract text is 300. You will not be able to proceed if you exceed the 300 word count.

Please use a Times Roman font, size 12 pt. (All abstracts will be standardized to one font type and size before print.)

Abstract Title: The title should be concise and informative. Avoid superfluous words such as "preliminary studies on" etc.

IMPORTANT - Abstract Authorship: Please underline the presenting author in the list of authors. Only one abstract can be presented per attendee.

Abstract Content: The abstract should educate the reader by clearly stating the originality of the work and its specific conclusions. It is NOT appropriate to state: "The results will be discussed.” All abstracts will be reviewed by the Symposium Organizers but will not be edited. Carefully proofread your abstract for errors. Tables and figures are permitted in the abstract.

If you must withdraw your abstract (and a co-author is not able to make the presentation in your place), please contact the Symposium Administrative Coordinator by phone at 814–863–1918 or email symposium@psu.edu. Issues with electronic submission of abstracts should be addressed to symposium@psu.edu.
