Abstracts and Posters

Late abstracts for the poster presentations can still be submitted. Please note: If not received by June 1, they may not appear in the bound Summer Symposium Proceedings book.

Speaker and presenter abstracts will be printed and bound for distribution at the symposium.

Oral Platform and Poster Presentations

From all poster abstracts submitted, thirteen will be selected for the oral platform presentations, to be held in the afternoon of Friday, June 20th. The remaining abstracts will be assigned to the poster session to be held on the evening of Friday, June 20th.

Be certain to state clearly on your abstract if you do NOT wish to be chosen to make an oral platform presentation. Be certain to include your email address with each abstract submitted so that you can be notified in advance if you will be making an oral platform presentation. Notifications will be made shortly after the abstract submission deadline (Wednesday, May 21, 2008).

To Submit an Abstract

Please format the abstract on plain white background within an area measuring 5.5 inches wide by 8 inches tall. Set the entire document in Times-New Roman font, 12 point size, single line spacing, and left justification, using line-feeds only for new paragraphs.

Send your abstract as an IBM-compatible email attachment (preferably MS Word document or a txt file) or on IBM-compatible media to amd9@psu.edu with Summer Symposium Abstract in the header. If mailing, send to:

Ann Marie Daniel , Ph.D.
Abstract - 27th Summer Symposium in Molecular Biology
The Pennsylvania State University
308 Forest Resources Lab
University Park, PA 16802

Poster dimensions are to be 36” by 46” , either landscape or portrait mode. Velcro attachment material will be provided.

Poster Set-up Instructions

When you arrive at the symposium, you will receive a proceedings book at the final registration desk. In that book, there is an author index in the back of it. Look up your name in that index, then go to the page in the book where your abstract is found. There you will see the number to the left of your abstract title. This is the number of your poster.

Posters are to be set up at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2008 and will be in numerical order. Just locate the poster board with your number and set up your poster. Velcro attachment material will be provided.
